Study Visits

The programme included opportunities to engage with local actors such as Baumhaus Bologna, CEFAL Emilia-Romagna and the Municipality of Bologna, supporting the exchange of practices in education, inclusion and social innovation.

Why it mattered: participating in the Bologna Mutual Learning Event strengthened W.E.B. in Tech's connection with the European social innovation ecosystem, creating opportunities to exchange practices, build networks and position the project within a wider community working on skills, inclusion and women's empowerment.

The Third Sector is undergoing a profound transformation: digitalisation is no longer an option, but a necessity for organisations that want to strengthen inclusion, sustainability and social impact.

Yet not every organisation has access to the same resources, knowledge and digital capabilities. Within W.E.B. in Tech – Women Engagement Boost in Technology, we therefore launched a research process to understand which digital skills are currently required in the Third Sector and where the most significant skills gaps are emerging.

Adapting ICT training to the real needs of the Third Sector

On 17 June 2025, the W.E.B. in Tech partnership met in Valletta for an international working meeting hosted by IELI – International E-Learning Institute Ltd.

Representatives of SOS Europa APS, Euro Mamme ASD, IELI and Kultur und Art Initiative came together to discuss how ICT training can respond more effectively to the concrete needs of the Third Sector and social entrepreneurship.

The meeting combined technical work, exchange of experiences and partnership development, helping translate the project's research and skills-gap analysis into the next phase of its training activities.

A special W.E.B. in Tech focus group created a space for direct dialogue with women from the Bangladeshi community living in Rome.

The meeting was designed to listen to their experiences, understand the challenges they face in everyday life and employment, and identify their aspirations for autonomy, learning and personal growth.

Understanding everyday realities

Many of the women involved balance family responsibilities, work and integration in their daily lives. Through direct dialogue and participatory activities, they shared the barriers they encounter in their paths towards social and professional inclusion, but also their ambitions and the type of support they consider most useful.

The focus group was not simply a consultation. It represents a concrete step in the co-creation of the W.E.B. in Tech training pathway.

The needs, barriers and expectations identified during the meeting provide practical input for designing learning activities that are more accessible, relevant and responsive to the realities of young women and mothers with a migrant background.
